The Memory of Jan Zwartendijk
'The Memory of Jan Zwartendijk' is an interpretation of the 'Monument to Jan Zwartendijk', located in Kaunas, Lithuania. Using strips of dichroic glass, I created a small sculpture based on the formal language of the monument in Kaunas. The glass strips represent the survivors - the adults and children who survived the Holocaust thanks to the courageous actions of Jan Zwartendijk.
At the same time, this work also relates to the material I used for 'Portal to Safety', on view at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in The Hague. 'The Memory of Jan Zwartendijk' is part of the collection of the Dutch Embassy in Kaunas
